Set on a smallholding with sheep, ponies, ducks and chickens, this delightful barn conversion makes a lovely holiday home for a couple seeking a warm, cosy and spacious retreat with beautiful views.

With miles of breathtaking walks and cycle trails on your doorstep, this pretty cottage makes an ideal base for a couple keen to explore the natural beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park. On a clear night, this is one of the best areas for dining under the stars – and makes a special occasion even more memorable.

 

The open-plan living space offers a cosy bolthole to return to after a day of adventures in the wilds, with a warming wood burner, exposed beams and beautiful views down the valley giving it bags of charm. After sharing a romantic homecooked supper, snuggle up in the lounge to watch TV or lose track of time with a good detective novel. French doors lead out from the lounge into a private orchard where you can sit back with a glass of wine or chilled drink. Not only will you be able to sample the fresh Welsh air but the water too as the water supply comes directly from a mountain spring. Upstairs, the spacious king-size bedroom offers far-reaching views of the countryside – an inspirational sight to wake up to.

 

Sporty couples can hone their skills at Cradoc Golf Club (3 miles) or take to the water at Llangorse Lake (10.5 miles) for canoeing, sailing and windsurfing. For nights out, head to bustling Brecon (4 miles) to find a variety of pubs and restaurants, as well as a canal-side theatre and a 1930s-style cinema. At Pwll-y-Wrach Nature Reserve (13.5 miles), get up close to the spectacular waterfall that tumbles into the ‘Witches Pool’, before seeing how flour is made at Talgarth Mill (13 miles). From here, stroll to Bronllys Castle (12 miles) to see the remains of the stone tower and walls.

Lovely cottage, amazing views. The apple juice was lovely. Thank you Saw lots of different bird species. Owner Patrick was kind and polite. Our stay over Christmas was lovely, quiet and cosy.

We were delighted with our stay at Damson Cottage. Patrick was quick to come and introduce himself and gave us a wonderful recommendation for dinner. The cottage is just as could as the photos suggest and the location is picture postcard perfect. Brecon is the perfect base to explore this area from. A really beautiful and cosy cottage with everything you need for both rainy days (lovely log burner, great views, river at the bottom of the garden) and adventures (short drive from Brecon Beacons National Park, and plenty of great walks).
