A picturesque Welsh longhouse built in 1642 perched on the hillside above Cwmdu with absolutely breathtaking views overlooking the glorious Dragons Back, Waun Fawr and Castell Dinas, the iron age fort in the Black Mountains along the valley between Crickhowell and Talgarth.

Weavers Cottage is a self contained annexe at one end of the owner's farmhouse that has been superbly restored by local craftsmen, with Welsh oak sourced locally from Litton Court in Powys.

When Weavers Cottage was being restored the owners discovered the original ancient doorframe, dating from 1642, still with the scratched markings of the carpenter for the "well being" of the occupants.  This door leads out to a small flower garden.

Accommodation

Sleeps 3 + 1 - 2 bedrooms

The kitchen has exposed feature stone walls, lovely oak hand built kitchen units with an electric oven and hob, granite work surfaces, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer and dining table with chairs.  A stable door leads out to a patio and to the visitors' parking area. From here there is access to a lawned garden that visitors may enjoy.

The Living Room From the kitchen there is a step down into a very light and our first impressions were 'calm' sitting room with the most stunning panoramic views through arched oak glazed French doors right across these very special Welsh hillsides dotted with grazing sheep and cattle. I immediately decided this is where I could happily spend a peaceful, reflective week ' well away from everything' except perhaps the occasional tractor and sheep.  Steps lead down to another private patio.

The sitting room has a 'Clearview' wood burning stove to sit around in the winter so you can still enjoy the outside from inside! There is a comfortable sofa and chairs, Freesat TV and DVD player.

Up a flight of hand built curving oak stairs there are two bedrooms with lovely fresh light oak floors.

Master Bedroom: With a king size bed (can be split to make two singles) and double aspect views along the mountainside and valley.

Bedroom 2: A cosy bed room with the original and charming window and a lovely antique brass single bed and extra 2ft 6 inch trundle bed tucked underneath.

The luxurious shower room has a monsoon shower, wash hand basin and toilet.

This hill farm is at the end of a no-through lane and is 6 miles from Crickhowell, 2 miles from Tretower and 6 miles from Talgarth.

This is a wonderful holiday cottage on a traditional sheep farm. At 850 feet above sea level the farm also has a small blue bell wood and a wild pond.  For anyone wanting to walk, cycle or ride in the Welsh mountains, the farm spans the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains with access straight from the door up to the open hillside of Pen Tir with views down to Llangorse Lake.

The owners also run courses from her studio on the farm throughout the year on hand spinning and weaving that some visitors might be interested in.
