Neuadd Fach Farmhouse is a comfortable retreat nestled alongside Well Cottage and Dew Cottage, two restored barns, to form a collection of 3 wonderful holiday cottages. All three properties benefit from independent access so whilst they lend themselves well to larger parties each also makes a magical spot for a tranquil holiday. The properties have all retained their character with original oak beams, stone walls and wonderful oak floors. The location is quite breathtaking with glorious panoramic views down the valley to Crickhowell and the Gwyrne Fawr reservoir in one direction and Talgarth in the other. The properties are situated on the owner's 400-acre working farm where they keep sheep, rear pedigree Limousin cattle and breed Welsh Mountain ponies. Wonderful walks criss-cross the area and each property has it's own private outdoor space from which to appreciate the stunning scenery.

Neuadd Fach was the original farmhouse at Blaenau Mawr. Now it's a comfortable and attractive house that can sleep up to 7 people. The wood panelling, exposed stone fireplace with woodburning stove and quarry-tiled floors retain the character of the building. The ground floor has a cosy sitting room with a wood-burning stove and the whole farmhouse has a comfortable, traditional feel. Neuadd Fach has a walled yard providing bike storage and a lawn and garden area beside the farmhouse for long summer evenings soaking up the last of the sun and admiring the views and wildlife.

  • Flexible accommodation for up to 16 people

A significant bonus of cottages at Blaenau Mawr is the flexibility. One cottage sleeps 4 people, a further converted barn sleeps 5, with the old farmhouse accommodating a further 7. This makes the cottages at Blaenau Mawr the ideal choice for a holiday with the family or with friends. Dew Cottage and Well Cottage can accommodate 5 visitors and 4 visitors respectively - both are also available to book through us.

Enjoy a quintessential Welsh village pub

Just an easy 15-minute stroll down the hill from Neuadd Fach is the Farmers Arms pub in Cwmdu. A family run pub with a restaurant area, it offers a wide range of tasty meals from simple baguettes to prime Welsh steaks. Pop in for a bit of banter with the locals and a tasty home-cooked meal made with local produce. The uphill walk home helps make a meal at this friendly local a guilt-free pleasure!

    Discover Tretower

3 miles up the road is Tretower Court and Castle. The castle is a classic moat and bailey example dating from 1150 with additions made in the 13th century. Tretower Court was recently refurbished and re-opened to the public and is thought to originally date from the 14th century and still boasts many fantastic examples of timberwork from that era as well as a delightful reconstructed 15th century garden. A trip to Tretower is a fantastic window into medieval life in the area.

Cwmdu (with village pub) 1 mile, Crickhowell 6 miles, Abergavenny 12 miles.
