A stylish and newly renovated holiday cottage is now back on our books with new owners.

Mayberry is set in the most stunning location on the winding lane that leads up to Llangattock Mountain. Standing in two and a half acres of garden and wild flower meadow, the actual garden is well fenced to keep dogs in and sheep out - so well behaved pets are very welcome!

The panoramic views alone make you want to stay a while - they are over The Usk Valley to Crickhowell down in the valley with Table Mountain and Sugar Loaf Mountain, just waiting to be explored.  Right behind the cottage is the impressive rock face of Llangattock Escarpment Craig-y-Cilau, which is an SSSI with resident rare Peregrine Falcons and other protected birds, flora and fauna. The cottage is remote yet only a few minutes' drive down to excellent places in Crickhowell to shop, eat and drink.

Accommodation sleeps 8 - 4 bedrooms

The well equipped kitchen has a wonderful welcoming large dining table - just the place to have a long lazy breakfast - and provides everything needed including an excellent Lavazza coffee machine with some pods provided, so no need to be desperate for a decent coffee; a large electric Rangemaster cooker, microwave, dishwasher, magic bullet and fridge are also included.

There is a very spacious utility/boot room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and separate downstairs toilet and hand basin. The back door leads out to the garden - a good place to leave muddy dogs to dry off.

The sitting room is warm and cosy with sofas and chairs; the original open fireplace now has a very effective wood burning stove with a good supply of logs. This room has exposed stone walls and old oak beams and of course, fantastic views from inside as well as out. Throughout the cottage there is underfloor heating ensuring even in the midst of winter the cottage is always warm and toasty. Behind the fireplace is the original flight of incredibly steep curved stone stairs - now more of a feature as there is a conventional flight of stairs to access the bedrooms; the original ones have a door at the bottom for safety and a gate at the top.

For visitors who cannot do without their Sunday Sports whether tennis, racing, football or rugby there is SKY TV with the full Sports and Movie package, Wi-Fi and a portable Bluetooth boom bar. (TV out of picture at other end of the room).

Upstairs to four refurbished bedrooms with high quality bedlinen and towels:

Bedroom 1: A king sized bed with an en suite shower room. Patio doors lead out onto a rear terrace with gorgeous views up to the escarpment.

Bedroom 2: A wrought iron king sized bed, pretty linen, oak beams and antique pine floors.

Bedroom 3: A smaller room with twin beds.

Bedroom 4: This bedroom has a super-king size bed, oak 'A' frame beams, hairdryer and again stunning views through all the windows.

The family bathroom has a bath, a separate shower, toilet and hand basin.

The garden has garden furniture and a very substantial Summer House with a full size pool table, table tennis table and table football. This really is a lovely place to escape to - especially for the children.

Useful Information:

*Arrival time is 4pm onwards

*Cot, high chair and a fold-up spare bed.
*2 dogs welcome but please respect the furniture and no pets upstairs.
*Garden furniture and a BBQ
*Plenty of storage for mountain bikes.

This cottage certainly feels remote but is actually only 1.5 miles from Llangattock and 2 miles from Crickhowell, Abergavenny (nearest station) 8 miles, Brecon 16 miles, Hay-on-Wye 21 miles.

Further up the hillside are the entrances to the most  famous caves systems in South Wales Ogof-y-Daren Cilau and Ogof Agen Allwedd but access is only with permission and a key. This is also a very popular area for climbers in the old quarry again further up the hillside.

The Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal with the tow path passes through the village of Llangattock and has two marinas where narrow boats are for hire. This is a really lovely and flat walk.

There are two Riding Centres, Golden Castle and The Wern Riding Centre close by.

Being close to Crickhowell, visitors are spoilt for choice on places to eat - on the edge of the village of Llangattock is the newly renovated Vinetree, so popular now you need to make sure you book. Going up into Crickhowell there are plenty of other places to eat and to shop with a wide variety of small independent shops.
