  • Spectacular Brecon Beacons hikes/bike trails close to the property
Property code: BN071

This ultra-modern barn conversion combines contemporary and traditional features and provides the perfect setting from which to explore Brecon Beacons and its neighbouring towns.

This property is one of a number of stone-built barns which is set in the attractive courtyard of Ty Newydd Farmhouse, close to the little hamlet of Pencelli and 3 miles from the popular market town of Brecon. The house forms the perfect base for walkers and cyclists looking for their next adventure, or simply those who are looking for a relaxing retreat with pretty scenery, cute villages and friendly pubs and restaurants. Start your walk along the Monmouthshire and Brecon towpath through Brynich Aqueduct and Brynich Lock or, in the other direction, Talybont-on-Usk has four eateries which all provide good food. Hay-on-Wye (18 miles) is also worth a visit, if anything to explore the bookshops that have made this town world-famous!

If you like your holiday homes stylishly decorated with contemporary furnishings and traditional touches, then this converted barn will not disappoint. As you walk into the property you discover a bright and airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area with a sleek modern kitchen featuring all the mod cons. There’s a small dining area next to the French doors that lead out onto the patio and a comfortable lounge area with bright sofas, a TV and a DVD player. The three bedrooms – two king-size and one twin – are located upstairs and all have crisp bed linen and wardrobe storage. There is also a bathroom, a shower room, and a utility room with a WC and washing machine.

The outside space comprises a clean and modern enclosed garden, perfect for families or those wishing to bring their dog. The patio table and chairs make it the perfect little spot for al fresco dining or simply relaxing with a book in hand. On a sunny day, you can open the French doors from the kitchen/diner and create a wonderfully sociable indoor/outdoor space where you can gather together and prepare meals.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Lovely cottage but pictures are a bit misleading. Outside there are now 2 long benches rather than comfy chairs with cushions.

Excellent facilities ; very clean. Good outdoor space. One of the double beds seemed harder than we remembered...

The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
