The house, once a hunting lodge, was built by Crawshaw Bailey, owner of a Welsh coal mine - made famous in the book 'How Green is my Valley'. Tower House is close to Llangorse Lake so bring your fishing rods or hire a boat and visit The Crannog. Visit Llangorse Pony Trekking and Adventure Centre - there is an excellent climbing wall and zip lines or explore the hills on horse back - a great place for all the family. For younger children visit Cantref Adventure Animal Farm or Brynich Play Barn.  Brecon and Crickhowell are both 7 miles so you are centrally located for some excellent places to eat out. Plenty to see and do

The house has recently been beautifully and carefully renovated, making this a warm, comfortable and contemporary house with great views across the valley - at times being able to see Llangorse Lake, dependent on the time of the year and the leaves on the trees!

The house is situated approximately 2 miles from Bwlch and 3 miles from Talybont on Usk, 9 miles from Brecon and 15 miles from Hay on Wye.  Llangorse village is 2 miles along the road with two village pubs both doing good food and local beers.

The lake offers many facilities including sailing, canoeing, fishing and a visit to The Welsh Crannog Centre (a type of ancient lake dwelling) which was originally built in about AD 916 by the King of Brychieniog.  The Centre shows the history, myth and legends of this unique Welsh ancient monument.  The lake is also home to many wild fowl and migratory birds that settle there.

This is a great location for walking straight up to the mountain with a footpath just across the road from the house to Myndd Llangorse or alternatively walk down to The Allt hill, just a few minutes down the road. The village of Llangorse has two excellent Pony Trekking and Riding Centres and a very popular Climbing Wall.

Llangorse 2 miles. Brecon 9 miles.

    • Our second visit has been just as good as our first. Such a wonderful house, comfortable, well equipped and so easy to relax in. A great place to escape from London. Good location with so much to do. We took time this visit to explore the Gower more and we did not regret it. Rhossili and whiteford burrows were beautiful. The waterfall at Sgwd yr eira was magnificent, quite a walk up but well worth it.
    • We had a fabulous week, tower house is beautiful, and thanks for letting us stay here. It has been a most relaxing week – went too quickly. We have enjoyed canoeing, biking, running and some lovely walks. We enjoyed pen y fan and the waterfalls. Lovely meals at the Red Lion and the Kestrel Inn also enjoyed a couple of BBQ's.
    • What a fabulous house and garden! Fell in love with the pictures when making the booking and we're not disappointed. It is a beautiful house and it felt like home. Welcome basket was much appreciated, and all the other touches around the house made settling in so easy. What a welcoming you give to all your guests.
    • After a very long journey here we were very glad to be staying in such a beautiful cottage. We spent a lot of time in the conservatory watching the birds and reading books. The cottage was very well kitted out and had everything we need while we stayed here. It is really beautifully designed and we are sad to be going. Thank you for letting us spend a week in your gorgeous cottage. We will be recommending it.
    • A cosy, charming and well-equipped cottage, we felt at home right away. The location was great to reach both the Brecon Beacons (we climbed Pen-y-fan) and the Black Mountains. Llanthony priory was a real discovery. We very much enjoyed the garden, the BBQ and the lovely veranda to just sit and talk among us.
