Gilfach Barn is set in sixty acres of stunning countryside with native mixed woodlands, crystal clear babbling brooks, wild flower, meadows, blue bell woods and wetland areas - a wealth of natural habitats for visitors to wander over and to explore. There is also easy access to many walks straight onto the open hillside straight from the door. Within a few miles there are also the ever popular tiny Shoemakers Arms at Pentre Bach - run by the local community, The Castle Coaching Inn in Trecastle and other local pubs in Sennybridge and Defynnog. Sennybridge has a couple of local shops and a post office
Sleeps 4, 2 bedrooms. This tastefully converted 17th Century Barn in a breathtaking rural location has retained the original oak beams, low ceilings and now has a woodburning stove set in the stone fireplace.
There is an open plan kitchen and living room area. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave, and a kitchen table, (a shared washing machine, dryer and a freezer are in a separate utility room in an adjoining barn). The living room area has a woodburner with an ample supply of logs, comfy armchairs with TV, DVD, radio/CD player. There is WI-FI available at the property and there are a variety of books and board games available for guest use.
There is a shower-room and handbasin and toilet on the ground floor.
Up the spiral stairs to
Bedroom 1: a double bedroom
Bedroom 2: with twin beds. As the bedrooms are in the roof of this quaint old converted barn some of the sloping beamed ceilings are fairly low, so may not be suitable for very tall visitors.
The cottage is situated on a Small Equestrian Farm in the Brecon Beacons only five minutes drive from the A.40. Access up to the farm is down and up a rather steep track, thus may not be particularly suitable for low-slung vehicles! The uneven nature of the terrain around Gilfach and the spiral staircase within the cottage may present difficulty to those with restricted mobility - but this can be discussed with the owner.
