Cantref Coach House
About Cantref Coach House
Cantref Coach House has recently been tastefully converted to an extremely attractive and comfortable cottage. The great beams, old style doors and windows and the oak floor boards have been hand crafted using locally sourced old oak timbers giving the cottage a great deal of character and charm yet keeping a feel of modernity. Cantref Coach House is set in the grounds of the Old Rectory beside the ancient twelfth century church of St. Mary's with views of the eastern Brecon Beacons.
4 Stars because there is not a separate bath, otherwise the cottage has been awarded 5 Stars.
Sleeps 2, one bedroom. A wonderful romantic old coach house, beautifully furnished on one level. A very well equipped kitchen with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and a washing machine. Snuggle back in the deep sofa and enjoy the views or watch your favourite DVD in front of the flame effect woodburner. A door leads out to the small garden behind the cottage with a lawn, garden furniture and a BBQ.
Bedroom 1: There is a superbly designed spacious double sized shower with a handbasin and a toilet. This room has been beautifully designed with tiled floor and a stylish round Italian handbasin standing on large slate tile.
Stabling available, on discussion with the owner.
Perfect location for walking
This is a perfect location for those wishing to mountain bike or walk straight on to the Beacons as it lies beside the bridleway that has been used by many generations of travellers and those on horseback passing through the mountains. Just a few minutes away from the cottage is a pony trekking centre and a small Animal Adventure Farm together with an Indoor Play Zone for small children. There is a good village pub/restaurant The White Swan in Llanfrynach, 2 miles down the lane and Brecon is approximately 2 miles in the other direction.

Thank you. We had a great time, the cottage was beautiful, a very warm welcome. A few little issues which the owner was dealing with and did not bother us at all. Definitely go back there. And booking was easy, e mails responded to swiftly, very helpful, a lovely little website - nice to find not EVERY cottage in the UK is run by Sykes or cottages4u or whatever!! And as we can never quite do a full week's holiday at Easter it was good to find a website still willing to find availability for us for odd dates. Will use again.
We had a great holiday thank you. The accommodation was 'spot on'- frankly the best equipped we have stayed in! Very friendly host with a most generous welcome package. Ideally situated for those wanting to explore S.E. Wales and the Beacons in particular. We will be thinking of booking again indeed if you can find a place near Abergavenny for a week beginning Friday 17th July 2015 we would be most interested – again two adults, non-smoking, and no pets.
We had a lovely stay at Cantref Coach House. Mrs Jenkins was friendly and helpful. The accommodation was of a high standard, and we appreciated the little extra touches such as the welcome basket and honesty pot for wine/ice-cream. Location was great, and there was plenty of information about the local area provided in the cottage. Booking was easy and efficient.
