Bramley Cottage is a very spacious and stylish two bedroom holiday home - the wing of a large 16th century farmhouse. A great many of the original features have been retained, including the wooden doors, ancient oak beams, and stone floors, and everything has been superbly restored to a very high standard. The house is warm and very comfortable with large "old school type radiators", and a wood burning stove set in the original inglenook fireplace. There are new beds good quality linen and lovely furnishings.
It should be pointed out that the original wooden winding stairs are fairly steep, but they are carpeted and there is a handrail. We would consider these to be dangerous and unsuitable for children under the age of 5.
The cottage has a small enclosed garden partly laid to lawn and with patio table and chairs. The garden extends across a farm track to a stream, with woodland and seating areas and views across the valley to woods and hills beyond. There are some walking routes from the door, but these are predominately on rural lanes.
Guests of Bramley Cottage have access to a fantastic BBQ Lodge (by arrangement with the owners) allowing you to have a BBQ whatever the weather, winter or summer. Some of the seating can be converted to sleeping spaces if you have slightly older children who might like a night outside.
The house, while in a fairly remote location, has easy access to the A40 which is within 1 mile. The owners live in the farmhouse at the back of Bramley Cottage, so although attached both properties are completely separate. The nearest neighbours are just across the courtyard in a separate barn.

A large and spacious living and dining room with two comfy three-seater soft leather sofas; these are set around the stone inglenook fireplace complete with an old bread oven and a wood burning stove. Another feature of this high ceilinged, room is a huge dining table and chairs, perfect for a special meal, playing board games or undertaking a large jigsaw. There is also a 32" flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD player. A stable type door leads out into the small enclosed garden.
A small lean-to accessed via two stone steps has been converted into a stylish, recently fitted kitchen, with electric cooker, induction hob, large built in fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. A central feature of the kitchen is a window into the living area, built into the very thick stone walls with a wide sill, which can be used as a serving hatch. A stable type door leads out to the grassy area beside the stream.
Very steep but carpeted stairs with handrail wind around the fireplace and lead to:

Sennybridge 2.5 miles, Deffynnog 3 miles, Brecon 11 miles, Llandovery 11 miles, Swansea 30 minutes and Cardiff 45 minutes. 6 miles from the National Park Visitors Centre
There are several pubs and shops in Sennybridge and Defynnog and a community run pub The Shoemakers Arms - in Pentrebach which has an excellent reputation.
Fish and chip shop in Sennybridge (behind the Usk and Railway pub) - open 5.30 - 9.30pm

Well worth a visit - the ancient yew tree "reputedly the -oldest tree in Britain" and over 5,000 years old, situated in the church yard at St. Cynogs in Defynnog - whilst there why not call in to the International Welsh Rarebit Centre for a coffee or something to eat- Delicious home baked bread is also available and take-out food if required. Open Wednesday to Sunday 10am - 5pm. Dogs welcome.
