Alexanderstone East Wing - An attractive wing of a fine 15th century Manor House

Relax and enjoy a restful break at a wonderful country retreat. This Grade II listed 15th century Manor House boasts a wealth of character features including wonderful oak beams and exposed stone walls and is set in well kept grounds. Why not cycle the Taff Trail from Alexanderstone, or host a family gathering or reunion - the property sleeps 8 but see the details below for further accommodation. This unique house also offers full catering and waitressing services making it the perfect place for a party. Brecon is just 3 miles away and the small hamlet of Groesfford has a pub within easy walking distance. For lovers of the outdoors, Alexanderstone is set within a designated protected wildlife area making this property is a wildlife enthusiast's dream.

This cottage can also be used in conjunction with Alexanderstone Manor, Alexanderstone Cottage and  Alexanderstone Coach House (approximately 150 yards distance) thus sleeping 31 people - so with the four properties this is a wonderful relaxed location, close to Brecon for a family re-union or a meeting up with friends. 

Accommodation

Sleeps 8 - 1 Family, 2 Doubles

Alexanderstone East Wing may be 15th century but it is a really well appointed home. The ground floor houses the kitchen with a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric four-ring cooker and a microwave.

There is a cloak/utility room:  With handbasin, toilet, washing machine and tumble dryer.

The very spacious open plan dining/sitting room has a dining table and chairs at one end. The room is then divided by a great oak settle with a charming oak beamed sitting area with sofa, chairs, TV and DVD at the other end of the room.

Take the stairs up to:

Bedroom 1: A large, beamed Family bedroom with a fine antique mahogany Double bed, two small single beds.

The family bathroom: Has a bath, shower, bidet, two handbasins and a toilet.

Bedroom 2: Is a double with an en-suite shower room housing a toilet, handbasin and shower.  

Bedroom 3:  Has a kingsize bed and a further single bed if required. The en-suite bathroom: With a bath, handbasin, toilet and separate shower.

Take a further flight of stairs down to a second, very long and spacious sitting/dining room with dining table and chairs, sofas and chairs. The dining area features an old Welsh dresser with decorative plates, an electric cooker, microwave, large fridge and freezer. The two large reception rooms are accessed through an interlinking door.

Alexanderstone East Wing has a homemade and Cordon Bleu ready cooked dinner service and a full waitress service can also be arranged. This facility makes Alexanderstone the obvious choice for a family get-together or a special occasion. Alexanderstone Manor can also be booked through Brecon Beacons Holiday Cottages and can sleep a further 10/12 guests if required.

The two spacious reception rooms feature ancient beamed ceilings and an old oak settle and traditional Welsh dresser make interesting features.

    All within a Site of Special Scientific Interest - Alexanderstone East Wing sits within a SSSI so there is a wealth of rare wildlife and fauna to be found nearby. In season orchids abound along the grass verges of the lanes; a great spot for wildlife enthusiasts of all ages.

    Numerous outdoor activities and places to visit - Located just 3 miles from Brecon, Alexanderstone East Wing is excellently placed to offer a huge number of outdoor activities all based locally. Walk straight from the house onto the glorious Brecon Beacons. There is also fantastic cycling as the property is on the Taff Trail providing 55 miles of largely traffic-free roads, paths and canal towpaths. Pony trekking, clay pigeon shooting, fishing and more advanced riding can all be arranged locally. For those looking for a quieter stay there are numerous shops in Brecon as well as a cinema and some great pubs and restaurants. Even closer to home, the small hamlet of Groesfford has a small pub just 1.5 miles away.
