Escape to the country and enjoy a stay off the beaten track with this unforgettable self-catering accommodation, enjoying life on a working farm and close proximity to the Brecon Beacons.
Switch off from the distractions of everyday life at this secluded cottage in the Cambrian Mountains. This rural hideaway – one of two converted barns – is ideal for a couple and two of their four-legged friends. It’s surrounded by lush green valleys and wildlife, and you won’t even have to get the car out to find scenic walks as there are several straight from your doorstep.
Inside, the lounge is an inviting place to relax, and there’s a small selection of books if you fancy a quiet holiday read, either indoors or out. Alternatively, see what’s on TV or sit back to watch one of your favourite DVDs. The sofa doubles as a bed if you want to invite more guests. The bedroom is upstairs on the first floor, where you can get plenty of rest to recharge your batteries ready for the next day’s adventure. Outside, sip morning coffee or enjoy evening drinks on the furnished patio, savouring the magnificent view. You can store mountain bikes and canoes in the secure shared space, and there’s a handy shared outdoor wet room for washing down muddy gear.
If you want to head off exploring, the Elan Valley (14 miles) shouldn’t be missed, with its reservoirs, water sports and wildlife, while the Brecon Beacons National Park (20 miles) has a wealth of mountain walks, waterfalls and gorges. To the north of the property, Gilfach Nature Reserve (16.5 miles) offers you the chance to spot otters, colourful butterflies and even wild salmon leaping out of the water. For shops and nights out, head to the market town of Builth Wells (10 miles), home to an independent theatre and cinema, as well as delightful pubs and restaurants.
