A charming and peaceful cottage, all on one level, with wonderful features. The cottage enjoys a tranquil, rural setting by the River Monnow near Craswell at the foot of the Black Mountains, and sleeps two people comfortably.  A wonderful sun room catches the sunshine all day and radiates warmth throughout the cottage. This is the perfect place to simply sit and admire the beautiful garden and river views, or enjoy a romantic dinner as the sun sets.

 

Accommodation:

Sleeps 2 - 1 bedroom

A spacious, attractive living room features a vaulted ceiling and exposed oak beams. There is a large wood burning stove and a good supply of logs. The furniture is contemporary and consists of a comfortable sofa with chaise lounge and 2 arm chairs, plus TV, DVD player, and freesat. There is a lovely sunroom with doors leading out to the garden with views to the river beyond.

The Old Bake House is set in private grounds on the River Monnow - with fishing licences from Wye & Usk Foundation. Please take care on the riverbanks and children need to be supervised at all times.

 

There is marvellous walking from the door up to The Black Mountains with The Black Hill, Hatterill Ridge, The Cats Back and Offa's Dyke. The Black Mountains are wild and remote with some superb walking routes, great for mountain bikers and for pony trekking. Visit Llantony Abbey with its' pub beneath, Capel-y-ffin, Abbey Dore. There are some lovely tucked away pubs - The Crown Inn in Longtown,  The Bridge Inn at Michaelchurch Escley.

A visit to Hay-on-Wye is a must - a wonderful drive through - whether just exploring or attending The Literary Festival.
