    Description

Jennys Cottage is situated in the small Valleys Town of Blaenavon in a quiet street with parking outside the door. The owner has lovingly renovated the cottage making it a warm and comfortable retreat whether for visitors looking up their family history or people who may need to be working in the area for a short period.

Blaenavon is part of The World Heritage site

From the cottage garden there are lovely views over Coity Mountain; it is only a two minute walk into Blaenavon the very small town with its traditional shops, local Spar and Co-Op Supermarkets, chemist within health centre, book shop, library with wifi available, local pubs and a hairdressers, etc along the high street.

Blaenavon is part of The World Heritage site - one of only a few in the world. The Big Pit is the National Coal Mine of Wales and is only a few minutes away from the cottage. Visitors are always impressed and can actually go down the Coal Mine wearing Miners Hat and a Lamp. This is beloved by children young and old and is really worth a visit. There is The Heritage Railway from Pontypool to Blaenavon and it makes a stop at The Whistle Stop public house.   There is a magnificent scenic drive over "The Keepers" a steep mountain road from Blaenavon to Abergavenny with The Blorenge Mountain ever present, there are wind swept hills with wild ponies and the many many wandering sheep and ancient woodlands in a forgotten landscape. The name Blaenavon means source of the river, and The River Afon Llwyd rises here. The Industrial Revolution when it took place devastated this area but now has left it with a wonderful sense of community which is still very evident to-day with The Blaenavon Male Voice Choir and The Collier Workingman's Band. Now the landscape is recovered and is being cared for through UNECO making it a World Heritage Site enabling the Industrial Welsh Heritage of the old Blaenavon Iron Works to be seen.
