Step through the front door and into a welcoming lounge area where you’ll enjoy laidback evenings in front of the wood burner and Smart TV. Opening out from this traditionally styled space is a contemporary kitchen/diner where there are every chef’s essential items as well as a sofa, second Smart TV and fully glazed floor-to-ceiling doors onto the terrace. A utility room offers storage alongside all the housekeeping must-haves, and there’s also a king-size ground-floor bedroom – accessed via a few steps – with a shower room and a WC. A central wooden staircase leads to three lavish first-floor bedrooms, each of which has wow-factor wallcoverings, luxury bed linens and en-suite facilities. Choose from a twin zip-and-link bedroom with an en-suite free-standing bath and WC, or a king-size room with an en-suite free-standing bath and a WC plus a glass-fronted balcony where you can sit and enjoy uninterrupted valley views. Off a small hallway is a further twin zip-and-link bedroom with a glass-fronted balcony and an en-suite with a free-standing bath, shower and WC; each of the twin room beds can be made up as a super-king on request. Your elevated location within the hillside village of Bwlch delivers commanding views – drink them in from the infinity terrace, where you can unwind with food from the BBQ and, if need be, warmed by the firepit. For the more competitive members of the group there's table tennis available - perfect entertainment for all.

Explore the Black Mountains from your doorstep, or stroll to the local pub in Bwlch, just 300 metres away. In neighbouring Llangynidr (2 miles) there’s a shop, eateries and access to the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. The largest lake in South Wales, Llangorse, is 5 miles away for paddleboarding, sailing and windsurfing or, for a change of pace, you could visit market towns Crickhowell (6 miles) and Hay-on-Wye (13 miles).

This is a lovely property with owners who clearly hold the property in deep affection and respect it as such. Incredible! Absolutely beautiful property. The beds are super comfy and the most well stocked kitchen I have ever used. Cath and Liz are super responsive hosts and offered many great places to eat or hikes to do. Cannot recommend enough! I really cannot think of anything that could be improved upon. It really did tick all my boxes for comfort with hypoallergenic bedding with towels and sheets washed in non biological liquid really important to me and my allergies. A perfect family Christmas in a warm and well thought out cottage and the double oven was a boon for Christmas dinner. Walks from the door and a handy bus service if you want to go further. Crickhowell is close by for a good range of shops and a great coaching hotel. Really good value second hand book shop in Brecon. Loved the oen plan kitchen, Read morelog burner, Welsh blankets, wild horses on the hills and the views. Great local pub and small butcher / farm shop. Can recommend strongly.

Wonderful cottage, great attention to detail. Perfect for a group of 8 friends. We were blown away by the standard of finish, it was like home from home (actually better). The view from the kitchen/breakfast room and patio is stunning. Would definitely recommend.

A lovely property with a lot of character. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Penybwlch and would hope to return in the future. Set in a beautiful location, with several attractions within a half hour drive, so it was ideal for us having a young family. This is a dream cottage every need has been met and a view to die for.
