The Brecon Beacons is rich in cultural heritage and nearby you can explore some of Europe's finest surviving castles, including Abergavenny Castle, set against the spectacular hills, the ruins of Crickhowell Castle (11 miles) and perhaps the grandest Welsh castle, Raglan (11 miles). If you like rivers, you can canoe or kayak on the River Wye at Monmouth (19 miles) or take a canal boat at a leisurely pace on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal (8.5 miles).
