Enjoying a peaceful location in the grounds of the owner's house, this charming stone bothy is surrounded by mature gardens, located on the hillside on the edge of the medieval village of Clyro.
Set into a hillside on the edge of the quaint village of Clyro, this cute stone bothy enjoys a peaceful location in the grounds of the owner’s house. Sleeping two people in one bedroom and welcoming one canine companion, it’s the ideal rural retreat for a romantic couple who yearn to spend their days hiking the Offa’s Dyke Path or browsing the bookstores in Hay-on-Wye, and their evenings BBQ-ing in the bothy’s garden or snuggling in front of the TV.
Step inside and you’ll find a bright space, with vaulted ceilings and Velux windows that allow plenty the natural light into this open-plan living area that has been cleverly designed by the owner. Kick off your boots in the hallway and make your way through to the galley kitchen to rustle up a romantic meal for two, or head outside into the private garden to fire up the BBQ and enjoy an al fresco dinner. After dinner, crack open a bottle of something cool and crisp and watch the stars come out. As night falls, return indoors to snuggle up in front of the TV, or choose one of the books or boardgames. When the day is done, there’s a double bed to the rear of the studio.
Pack up a picnic, grab your swimsuit and make your way to The Warren (3 miles) – a great wild swimming spot set in a lush green meadow. Afterwards, enjoy a peaceful 0.5-mile stroll into Hay-on-Wye to spend some time browsing its famous bookshops and treating yourself to afternoon tea. Or for some breathtaking views of Brecon Beacons, hike the 2-mile National Trust trail at The Begwns (4 miles).
