This reverse-level cottage situated within a peaceful development is just a stone’s throw from the heart of Crickhowell. A great base for couples wanting to explore the Brecon Beacons National Park.

This charming cottage in the heart of the ancient market town, Crickhowell, is an ideal rural retreat for couples or small families. Nestled amongst the unbridled countryside of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the town is a great base if you’re looking to immerse yourselves in the natural beauty of the area. You can enjoy gentle strolls by the river or more challenging climbs to the top of local peaks. With such an abundance of walking and cycling trails on offer, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to your next adventure. One thing is certain though: you will feel a world away from your usual hectic pace of life.

Close to the town centre, in a small, architect-designed development, this bright and airy, reverse-level cottage has everything you’ll need for a relaxing stay. Warm woods pop against the neutral tones to create an inviting space. On the ground floor, you’ll find the well-presented double bedroom which leads out to the small private courtyard, which is perfect for enjoying a morning coffee. There's also a modern, bright bathroom with shower over the bath and WC. Head upstairs where the unusual layout ensures you can enjoy rooftop views and glimpses of mountains from the large picture window in the cosy open-plan lounge/diner with a well-equipped kitchen to the front of the property on the first floor. From here, a ladder leads up to an additional single bed on a mezzanine floor.

Delightful Crickhowell, in the Usk Valley, is popular with visitors as it has many independent shops and eateries amongst its beautiful buildings. Its close proximity to some of the Brecons’ most impressive peaks, such as Sugar Loaf Mountain (7.5 miles) and Pen y Fan (21 miles), also make it popular with keen walkers. Other outdoor activities are also available such as canoeing, climbing and horse riding. But if you’re in need of a rest day, you could always visit another Welsh town such as Abergavenny (6.5 miles), Brecon (14.5 miles) or book-lover's haven, Hay-on-Wye (20.5 miles).

Everything in Acorns Cottage is just as described, and quite lovely. Having an extra sleep space gave the two of us some much-needed separation when needed. Walking to and from downtown Crick was a breeze. We appreciated the welcome snacks, coffee, and milk provided very much.

Lovely bright accommodation that was only a couple of miniutes walk from the lovely Crickhowell's town centre and handy for some scenic walks, including the strenuous walk up Table Mountain. The accommodation was comfortable and well resourced.
