Compact and beautifully formed, return to this cosy retreat after days exploring the mountains, lakes, waterfalls, moorland and woodland in the wildly rugged Brecon Beacons.

Sitting in the heart of the pretty village of Bwlch, this humble abode is close to welcoming pubs, a farm shop and the beautiful peaks of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Snug and inviting, this bolthole is perfect for romantic retreats. Full of character and charm, make yourself at home beneath exposed beams and put your feet up with a mug of something warm in hand.

First things first, head into the kitchen/diner, feast your eyes on the lovely welcome pack and pop the kettle on. Though the dining table is great for dinners, you might want to dine alfresco in the enclosed courtyard area where you can fire up the BBQ for easy, tasty meals. Head up to the first floor where you can relax in style in the lounge. Traditional features including the exposed stone wall, little nooks and crannies, and beautiful woodwork add handfuls of character and the comfortable sofa welcomes you to switch off and cosy up after days in the great outdoors. Rest your head in the first-floor bedroom and take care of the sloping ceiling. When you wake, freshen up in the shower room which has a wet room style, and get ready for the day ahead.

Head straight out of your door and onto well-trodden trails. Bwlch has some great circular walks just perfect for you and your dog to enjoy a spot of stick chasing. Four walks to note are Bwlch with Altitude, Fortitude, Magnitude and Solitude. The nearby town of Talybont-on-Usk (3 miles) has plenty to explore; waterfalls, rivers, a reservoir and atmospheric pubs all await, so head out for an adventure before sitting down for something tasty to eat.

Lovely cottage, clean and cozy, located in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. Ample space in the hallway for dirty/wet boots/coats. Rear yard was ideal for the dog! Living room was cosy with large skylights allowing plenty of sunlight in. Underfloor heating in the shower room was a bonus! Lovely local pub opposite, would advise pre-booking for a mealRead more (dog friendly). Nice walks from the cottage. Hide

Really lovely, cosy cottage. Very clean & well equipped with high quality kitchen wear, bedding, towels etc. Fab hosts. Local busses are great to go to Brecon, Crickhowell, Abergavenny etc. Car park space was brilliant as didn't use car once through our break. Lovely local pub, best to book if you want to eat. .....Perfect retreat. THANK U.

We had a perfect week in this lovely cottage. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Thank you for the welcome treats and the very useful walks guides and maps. We would love to return.

Lovely, well equipped cottage in a good position for walking and visiting the surrounding countryside, with a thoughtful owner. We were there during a heatwave. The downstairs stayed relatively cool, but upstairs was hot. The owner offered us a fan, but we managed without. Be aware, though, it's on a main road, so if you're around in the day and neRead moreed the upstairs windows wide open, there will be traffic noise. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit, in spite of the heat. Hide

A lovely, well-presented cottage that is ideally located for lots of lovely walks in the Brecon Beacons. It is on a busy road but it did not seem to have too much traffic overnight. Opposite a pub (The New Inn) but when we stayed (Sunday to Tuesday) the pub was not open which was a shame.
