This beautiful property is self-contained wing of a large Grade I listed house situated on a 2000-acre working rural estate, perfect for a family or friends’ get together in a fabulous part of Wales
Let the good times roll at this spacious cottage set on a vast country estate 6 miles from Brecon. The area is a walker’s paradise, and there’s plenty to do on the estate itself. Play tennis on the all-weather court, cast your fly-fishing rod (for a fee) or wander among the blooms of the old Victorian rose gardens. You can also buy fresh organic vegetables grown on the estate. Sleeping up to 14 guests, the property is a fabulous base for a large family celebration or friends’ reunion.
Inside, this private wing is a perfect blend of old and new, with exposed beams contrasted by warm lighting and contemporary touches. It’s also eco-friendly as it runs on biomass central heating. In the large kitchen/diner, while washing up you can gaze out into the garden at the Belfast sink after rustling up a hearty meal in this pretty space. Take the curved staircase up to the lounge, which has fantastic views of the River Usk. There are two bedrooms on this level, as well as two bathrooms, so queues can be avoided. The four remaining bedrooms, plus another two bathrooms, are on the second floor. On warm summer evenings, tuck into a BBQ feast in the pretty courtyard.
In Brecon, go for a leisurely stroll along the canal towpath or step up the pace on the challenging Taff Trail, which stretches 55 miles along the River Taff to Cardiff. Young ones can enjoy animal encounters and outdoor escapades at the Cantref Adventure Farm (8.5 miles), while the thrill-seekers in your group can go rock climbing at Llangorse Multi Activity Centre (13 miles). For slightly gentler pursuits, enjoy a scenic bike ride through the Brecon Beacons National Park.
