  • Challenge yourselves to a trek in the Black Mountains, for inspiring views across Wales
Property code: BN160

A secluded spot in the forest for a cosy couple’s break. Get back to nature and explore walking and cycling trails along the River Wye and into the Brecon Beacons.

Escape with a loved one to this fantastic cabin for a romantic rural retreat to remember. Fabulously light open-plan living means you don’t have to stretch too far to pop the kettle on in the mornings and the wonderful outdoor space is perfect for al fresco meals as the sun sets. With an acre of land to explore, stay close to home or travel slightly further afield and find yourself in the pretty literary town of Hay-on-Wye (1 mile), or at Llangorse Lake, the largest natural lake in South Wales (13 miles).

Make your way through the doorway and into this cosy cabin-style abode. Light floods in through the large doors and windows, creating a calming, tranquil atmosphere for you to soak up. Plant yourself on the comfortable sofa and laze in front of the TV whilst dinner bubbles away in the bright kitchen space. When evenings are warm, spend time in the garden by the fire pit and admire your lush surroundings. Rest your head in the double bed and drift off to sleep before rising and shining and freshening up in the shower room. Sitting in the owner’s private garden, enjoy your secluded position and stroll the grounds for a morning filled with fresh air before you head off to adventure.

Hop straight onto well-trodden paths and explore your surroundings or make the 5.5-mile journey to the National Trust’s Begwyn Hills. Pop to Hay-on-Wye (1 mile) for a day full of bookshops and eateries. Be sure to visit this bustling town if your trip coincides with the annual literary festival which takes place just before summer.

We spent the end of the summer long weekend here. It's a perfect location, with most trailheads and viewpoints just a short drive away. The cottage was exceptionally clean, and the fresh flowers were a nice touch. We were one of those annoying guests who left something behind, but Jodie was amazing and patient and sent our forgotten items to us. ThRead moreanks for our lovely stay. Hide

Beautiful setting. Everything you need is provided. Village is a half hour walk..1.5 miles each way. If you want a bar, Baskerville Hall is 5 min walk. Brecon beacons is a half hour drive, but plenty to see locally in Hay-on-Wye. No supermarket in the village just a Spar convenience store. Brecon has more larger shops. We had a wonderful time in beautiful surroundings. We were very warmly welcomed and our needs were well catered for. It is a lovely private spot and we felt completely at home right from the off. Plenty to do and see within reasonable walking distance but to be honest we enjoyed hanging out in Forest Nest just as much.
