A truly magical but secluded Welsh cottage for a large family or group of friends, which is ideal for nature lovers as it is set in enchanting forest surroundings, with picturesque valley views and wonderful walks on the doorstep.
Get away from it all with an unplugged holiday exploring hidden trails, gorges and waterfalls. This is just the place for a digital detox with your extended family or group of friends. There is NO Wi-Fi or mobile signal. This secluded country cottage for up to seven guests lies deep in the heart of Crychan Forest, perfect for long walks and mountain biking. Its rural location and sprawling wild garden also make it a haven for wildlife lovers and photographers.
Inside, the property boasts charming rustic features throughout, from original exposed beams to a traditional wooden staircase leading upstairs. The farmhouse kitchen has everything you need to rustle up hearty meals for your pack. After you’ve eaten, cosy up by the glow of the wood burner, set in a stone inglenook fireplace. Three of the bedrooms are on the first floor, while the master bedroom is up another flight of stairs in the attic, offering extra privacy. Here you can enjoy a long soak in the free-standing bath after a brisk walk in the fresh country air. Being in the attic, this room is nestled beneath a sloping beamed ceiling that’s low in places. Be aware that the roof of the farmhouse is a protected roost for bats, which sneak into the property in the summer months.
Around 6 miles from the cottage is the ancient market town of Llandovery, with its Norman castle, vintage tea rooms and boutique shops selling local handmade products. From Llandovery, follow the River Towy into the Cambrian Mountains, where you can go exploring its rugged landscapes. Eagle-eyed birdwatchers can look out for red kites at the RSPB nature reserve at Gwenffrwd-Dinas, about 16 miles from the property.
