This charming property provides the perfect base for exploring all that the famous Brecon Beacons have to offer, with plenty of walks available straight from the front door.

Set on a working farm, this cosy farmhouse cottage sleeps four in a quiet hamlet in Monmouthshire. Guests have access to a private fishing lake. There’s a shop and pub within a mile of the holiday property. And source delicious Welsh produce or simply relax in pubs and eateries in the popular market town of Abergavenny (2.5 miles), where there’s a popular food festival in September.

Kick off your boots and hang up your coats in the entrance porch to this charming country-style property. Step into the farmhouse kitchen and dining area where you’ll find all the equipment you need to rustle up a tasty meal with fresh market ingredients. Gather around the dining table and catch up on the day; unwind in the spacious living room by the warming wood burner (first basket of logs provided) and enjoy favourite films together. Slumber falls easily with two cosy bedrooms upstairs, both with beautiful country views to wake up to. Step outside to dine alfresco in the garden and soak up the mountain views. There’s a second holiday property on site, and a shared utility room so you’ll have less packing to do and more time to enjoy your holiday escape.

Pack a picnic and plan a group hike of the Skirrid (4 miles) or Sugarloaf (5 miles) mountains. Or follow the route of the River Usk towards Crickhowell Castle (8 miles). Go stargazing at Abergavenny museum and castle (3 miles), there are guides and events to lead the way. Or enjoy a day in Crickhowell, an elegant Georgian town with 12th-century castle ruins, plus shops, galleries, and cafes, and an annual walking festival.

This cottage is in a location for exploring the surrounding area and has fantastic views of Sugar Loaf mountain. Kate was very welcoming and helpful - letting us know when the cottage was ready so we could arrive a bit earlier. We had a lovely dinner at The Crown which is in a perfect location at the top of the lane.

A small cottage in a quiet setting but near to Abergavenny. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

The cottage is nice, the scenery is beautiful and Katy is very welcoming. More effort could have been put into making the place child friendly. The heavy doors are a nightmare for little fingers, no travel cot was available (it was only provided after I sent a screenshot as 'proof' that it had been advertised) and I had to clean the toddler climbinRead moreg frame and picnic benches in the common garden space myself. WiFi is of poor quality but host offered for me to use personal WiFi in main house. Hide

Cottage was satisfactory, there was a few issues with kitchen equipment and although owners dealt with things promptly the cooker was out of service for all of our holiday. It would have been ideal if this had been picked up prior to our arrival . Lock on bathroom door would have provided privacy that was required.
