Studded on the banks of the River Usk, Llangynidr is a chocolate-box village with plenty of attractions to suit guests of all ages. Whether you are tempted by scenic walks, cycling opportunities or even water sports, you’ll feel right at home in this character cottage that sleeps four at the heart of the village centre. Pack up a picnic and set off along the renowned 5.5-mile canal walk to Crickhowell, or remain in the village to enjoy delicious meals in the popular pubs.

Exposed stone, character beams and a large inglenook fireplace set the scene of this period cottage, providing a delightful ambience for spending quality time with the ones you love. Return from the village with armloads of local produce ready to cook up a storm in the country cottage-style kitchen/diner, feasting together at the table or heading outside to dine alfresco. Warm your toes by the wood burner in the lounge and kick back on the sofas with a glass of wine in hand, or perch at the table for family board games. Steep stairs lead up to two elegant bedrooms finished with subtle floral details and cosy bedding, and both share the pretty bathroom with a shower-over-the-bath and sloped ceilings. Outside, the walled garden is accessed via a few steps and is ideal for afternoon tea in the sunshine.

Llangorse Lake is easily reached within 6.5 miles, where you can take to the water by boat, kayak or paddleboard to embrace the scenery. Cycling, walking and even pony trekking are also options if you wish to explore the lake in style, refuelling with coffee and cake in the welcoming cafe. What a fabulous little place, very comfortable for a family of 3 and 2 dogs. Ash cottage was very clean & tidy & had everything you could wish for to make your stay comfortable. The little extras, like dog treats and food/water bowls, bottle of wine, washing powder were very thoughtful. There were 2 pubs in the village, both within walking distanceRead more. Lots of activity centres to keep the kids entertained & returning to the cottage, sitting in the garden was lovely, relaxing with a glass of wine. Hide

A lovely, homely little cottage in a beautiful location. The owner clearly understands the needs of visitors, and in my case, the requirements of dogs. A perfect and cosy home from home. The cottage is delightful and has everything you need for your stay. A lovely comfortable bed and really good quality products. It was extraordinarily cold while I was staying but the central heating was up to the job and it was wonderful to be able to snuggle round the fire. Will definitely come back
