Take a romantic break at this pretty shepherd’s hut at the base of one of the Brecon Beacon’s most recognisable peaks, Skirrid. Spend the day walking the national park and Wye Valley, before soaking away in your own private hot tub.
The hut is very well-equipped. A lounge/diner becomes the sleeping area and has a warming wood burner as well as a Smart TV and DAB radio, perfect for cosy nights in together. The main hut has a kettle and toaster, great for breakfast in bed, while a separate hut next door houses a kitchenette. Outside is a warming hot tub and a garden area set aside with a table and chairs as well as a BBQ, so make sure you bring some charcoal for a spot of al fresco dining. The owners also run a tearoom on site where you can pick up some sandwiches or cakes. If you both fancy a hike, you’ll be able to easily access the routes to the top of The Skirrid from here, too.
Located on the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, you’ll be perfectly situated to escape the hustle and bustle and explore the very best of the countryside here. Abergavenny is just 2.5 miles away with its rich history and eclectic mix of shops, pubs and restaurants. There is a wide range of walking routes around the Brecon Beacons, from challenging hikes to gentle sightseeing strolls. You’ll also be near the River Wye where you can try kayaking, canoeing or stand-up paddleboarding.
