This beautiful bothy is perfect for romantic retreats in the gorgeous Welsh countryside. Sitting on the tip of the Brecon Beacons National Park, spend your days exploring and visiting the nearby literary town of Hay-on-Wye (2.5 miles) before spending time relaxing on your wraparound veranda which boasts waterfall views. Two steps lead inside where the stylish open-plan living space provides a great place in which to unwind, cook and dine together. A charming wood burner and radiators heat the room, and two chairs are perfectly positioned for you to lap up the heat. The kitchen area has splashes of colour and all you need to cater for breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout your stay. Enjoy date nights inside or out and admire the beautiful views across the surrounding countryside if you choose to sit in the fresh air. The bedroom can be made up as either a super-king-size or two single beds and has a patio door leading to the veranda. Start your day with an al fresco coffee and a rinse in the shower room before heading out. There is also handy off-road parking. Make the 2.5-mile journey north to Hay-on-Wye where bookshops, eateries and pretty streets await. If you fancy making a splash, paddle the River Wye from nearby Glasbury (6 miles) where you can hire canoes and enjoy pitstops at The Warren, a shingle beach. Venture further into the national park and pay Llangorse (14 miles) a visit with its lake, mountains and activity centre which is sure to keep you busy. You can also enjoy a stroll around the water. 22.5 miles towards the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the cathedral city of Hereford where you can see the Mappa Mundi.
