Review of Apple House, Llyswen
Apple House, one of the latest properties to join with Brecon Cottages, is a cosy little bolt hole for four in the village of Llyswen. Watson Thomas came to stay during the Hay Festival and this is what he thought...
The first thing you'll notice as you pull up to Apple House is the huge front garden complete with BBQ, fire pit and hammock. There can hardly be many better ways to start the day than sipping a coffee while gently swinging in a hammock that overlooks the neighbouring fields! Our final evening was spent outside in the slowly diminishing sun, barbecuing, lounging in front of the fire pit and playing with the owners' inexhaustible puppy.
There's a great deal to do in the local area, and had we not been tied up with visiting the Hay festival, we would've definitely tried our hands at canoeing down the river to Hay-on-Wye. We had enough time to wander down to the river a couple of times, but didn't get to explore the Wye Valley walk or make the most of the 250 years of private fishing along the River Wye.
