Pony Trekking and horse riding in the Brecon Beacons is popular and varied with a great many stables that offer all types of Riding for experienced visitors or Riding Lessons for beginners; from Hacking out on well schooled horses, Guided Pony Trekking over the hills, Long Distance Trail Riding, at numerous Equestrian Centres in and around the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons National Park. Walk in the hills and see the Welsh Mountain Ponies roaming freely over the hills since Roman Times and until recently used as work horses by the local hill farmers.

The Welsh Cob is now the pride of many local and international horse breeder which can be seen in their full glory at The Royal Welsh Show or at the local Village Shows held during the summer months. Pay a visit to one of the two Horse and Pony Sanctuaries in the Brecon area.There are International Horse Trials in late June and International Polo in early July at Glan Usk Estate.

There is also the very popular Trotting Races or Harness Racing the modern day version of “charioteering” held locally during the summer months where visitors can have a “flutter”.

There are several Centres that offer Trail Riding through The Black Mountains, another through The Brecon Beacons and also the Trans Wales Trails for very experienced Riders.

For Independent Horse Owners many of our properties offer grazing and or stabling and The National Park has over 600 miles of bridge paths and tracks for riders. The Brecon Beacons National Park looks after Three Rivers Ride, Black Mountain Loop, Epynt Way or other routes a little further away.

Five Saints Riding Centre is situated in the Cothi Valley at the start of the Cambrian Mountains, Carmarthenshire, West Wales.
