Southern National Park

Southern National Park

This region of the Brecon Beacons, west of Merthyr Tydfil and south of Brecon offers a contrasting landscape to the rest of the park.  Known as ‘Waterfall Country’, numerous walking routes take in the breathtaking series of waterfalls dotted around this area and it is a draw for walkers and cavers from all over Europe.

This area of the park also encompasses the Fforest Fawr Geopark and you should check our What to do section to make sure you get the most from your stay.  Add to this the lovely Craig-y-nos Country Park, the National show caves at Dan-yr-Ogof and the Penderyn whisky distillery, and you have a great location with something for everyone!
