Southern National Park

This region of the Brecon Beacons, west of Merthyr Tydfil and south of Brecon offers a contrasting landscape to the rest of the park.  Known as ‘Waterfall Country’, numerous walking routes take in the breathtaking series of waterfalls dotted around this area and it is a draw for walkers and cavers from all over Europe.

This area of the park also encompasses the Fforest Fawr Geopark and you should check our <link to events and festivals> section to make sure you get the most from your stay.  Add to this the lovely Craig-y-nos Country Park, the National show caves at Dan-yr-Ogof and the Penderyn whisky distillery, and you have a great location with something for everyone!
