Llanwrtyd Wells

Known as ‘Britain’s Smallest Town’ (though this is hotly debated), Llanwrtyd Wells is situated right in the centre of Wales, to the north of the Brecon Beacons and on the edge of the Cambrian Region.

The town straddles the River Irfon and is surrounded by spectacular countryside with lakes, rivers and a reservoir - leading to the town to be referred to as the ‘Welsh Lake District’. A number of Conservation areas encircle Llanwrtyd and this is THE place to come to spot the rare red squirrel and watch the Red Kites soar.

Back in the 18th century Llanwrtyd Wells made it’s name as a popular spa town but in recent years it has become known for the eccentric events hosted here. Time your visit to coincide with the World Bog Snorkelling Championships, The Man vs. Horse Marathon or the Real Ale Wobble to see the town on top form!
