Upper Swansea Valley
Along the Upper Tawe Valley one reaches Craig-y-Nos Country Park with its 40 acres of woodlands, water and meadows to explore. There is the large Italianate Country House where Dame Adelina Patti the famous Victorian opera singer (remembered for "Home Sweet Home") used to live. The house is now used as a Centre of Excellence for young musicians.
Almost next door is the superb award winning Dan-yr-Ogof Show Caves and Dinosaur Park where there is a wealth of entertainment including a dry ski slope, pony trekking, mountain bike hire, Shire Horse Centre and a children's' area with small animals. The show cave complex is fascinating with guided tours through the system with its stalactite and stalagmite formations. Certainly an enjoyable day out for the family. The famous Aberdulais Waterfalls on the River Hespe offers many scenic walks and is also a very popular site for caver's. The Upper Swansea Valley is an ideal location for those wishing to explore the mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the South Wales Valleys and the lovely sandy beaches of the South Wales coast as they are each only a 30 minutes drive.
