Bwlch Area
"Bwlch translated means"
The road passes through the mountains which rise up behind the village. It is possible to walk straight onto Buckland Hill or Mynydd Llangorse from the cottage. There are the remains of an ancient castle behind the village and the most wonderful views up the Usk Valley and over to The Black Mountains. Llangorse Lake, which is the largest natural lake in Wales and is famous for its tremendous wealth of migratory water fowl and natural fauna. All types of water sports such as sailing, rowing or gentle walking are carried out, canoes and boats can be hired and fishing is allowed with a permit.
There are pony trekking centres and an excellent Rope Centre in Llangorse. Mountain bikes can be hired in Pencelli. Bwlch is 10 miles from Brecon and 13 miles from Abergavenny and 8 miles to Crickhowell, and is an excellent location for those wanting a leisurely holiday with good access to all areas of the National Park, Mid and South Wales.
