The Upper Swansea Valley is an ideal location for those wishing to explore this area known as 'Waterfall Country', YSTRADFELLTE with the Aberdulais Waterfalls on the River Hepste and many scenic walks and a very popular site for cavers.   PONSTICILL has superb footpaths right up to the main peaks of the Beacons and a number of waterfalls and reservoirs, along which the Mountain Steam Railway runs. Visit the award winning WELSH WHISKY visitor centre at PENDERYN, near HIRWAUN, and enjoy this undiscovered area -newly designated as a GEOPARK due to its fascinating and varied geological landscape. At ABERCRAVE along the Upper Tawe Valley is Craig-y-Nos Country Park with its 40 acres of woodlands, water and meadows to explore. Almost next door is the superb award winning   where there is a wealth of entertainment including, pony trekking, and mountain bike hire. Against the backdrop of the National Park moorland YSTRADGYNLAIS, BRYNNAMAN AND AMMANFORD have the added advantage of being within easy reach of Swansea and The Gower with it's beautiful sandy beaches.
