Sleeps 4, 2 bedroom. The perfect cottage for a "retreat" to write a book or for a romantic weekend away. This cottage is very remote, approximately one mile off the tarmac lane up a beautiful forestry track lined with a Beech wood and a Pine Forest; certainly NOT for the faint hearted and in winter probably a four wheel drive would be necessary. An idyllic and very secluded cottage high in the Black Mountains with superb views and excellent hill walking straight from the door. The cottage has been very simply and tastefully restored by local craftsmen with many of the original features being retained, flag stone and oak floors, oak windows, oak beams throughout and a stone fireplace with a woodburning stove, with lots of wood provided. The original outside "privy" has also been retained.
Accommodation
The kitchen has a flag stone floor and is well equipped with hand made oak fitted units, an electric cooker with a ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and a freezer, a Belfast sink and a washing machine; pine dining table and chairs; entrance porch with room for muddy boots and coats. Freeview TV and DVD. The sitting room is comfortable with a quarry tiled floor with rugs and the very efficient woodburning stove. Lovely views across the valley and comfortable sofas and chairs.
Up a flight of wooden stairs to
Bedroom 1: has a double bed
Bedroom 2: has matching twin beds; both pretty bedrooms have lovely good quality linen.
The bathroom has a bath with a hand held shower, handbasin and a toilet.
The cottage really is remote, it is up a very long forestry track at least a mile from the tarmac road but usually fine for an ordinary family car.

"We had a wonderful time, staying in Woodmans Cottage. It's certainly a place for getting away from it all. That approach up through the woods and arrival at the cottage, and the way the view opens up on to the Black Mountains is truly spectacular. The cottage was very clean and well maintained, very comfortable and well equipped. It was a great place to take our dog. Having the woods literally on the doorstep is a delight and we went out for many longs walks beyond, including a climb up to the top of Lord Hereford's Knob. We were lucky with the weather; just a couple of very short showers. Took a drive into Hay one day, well worth a closer look. I do wish we'd gone along rather better supplied. It's a treat not to want to use the car but we didn't take enough food supplies with us and by the end of the week were out of many basic items and left with carrots and potatoes. But that of course is nothing at all to do with the cottage, just with our organisation. Overall I'd rate our stay very high up on our scale of great cottages." Jackie
