Swallows Nest and Kaths Loft are newly on the books, they are delightful cosy and homely properties with friendly owners. The cottages are approximately 3 miles from Abergavenny now famous for its flourishing Food Festival and 7 miles from Raglan with very easy access to Monmouth and the Welsh Marches and with its well preserved castle dating from the 14th century. This really is worth a visit. These are perfect cottages to stay in if walking in The Black Mountain or on The Blorenge which is can be seen rising up majestically across the valley where very often hang gliders can be seen drifting across the sky. There is the Three Castles Walk passing through Grosmont Castle, Skenfrith Castle and White Castle near Llantilio dating from the 1200's. Abergavenny with the back drop of The Sugar Loaf and Skirrid Mountain is excellent walking.
This ground floor cottage, originally a cowshed is tucked away with its own little private courtyard garden with garden table and chairs and a BBQ. There is a kitchen has everything you need with a electric cooker, microwave, fridge and a freezer, a washing machine and dining table and chairs. The bathroom has a bath with the shower over, hand basin and toilet. The sitting room is comfortable with sofa (can also be used as a sofa bed) and chairs and Freeview TV with a DVD. There is a downstairs bedroom with a double bed and a Freeview TV. This does make it easy for visitors with walking difficulties but the shower is over the bath.
From the cottages it is less than a 1 mile to The Hardwicke now a renowned restaurant with the TV chef Steven Terry. At Skenfrith there is The Bell at Skenfrith again a gastro pub - awarded The Michelin Pub of the Year in 2007.
The King of Prussia is less than 1 mile up the road and is a good family pub that has also lots of entertainment and events in the evenings. The Cripple Creek is again another good value restaurant 6 miles up the road. The Park Hotel at Pandy is also highly recommended by the owners for dinner. The perfect place for afternoon tea is The Angel in Abergavenny.
