Swallows Haven

Swallows Haven was originally the old dairy attached to the main farmhouse where for years butter and cheese have been made for use in the farmhouse and for selling locally.  The cottage is popular with families with eggs to be collected, friendly dogs to play with and streams for paddling not to mention the enclosed play area and games room. There is a shared pretty enclosed garden with views to the Beacons, large lawn, private patio with garden furniture and a BBQ.

This is a family run organic hill farm with sheep, cattle, free range pigs and laying hens. Also to be spotted in the fields are traditional Welsh mountain ponies. The 220 acre farm is a mixture of pasture, woodland providing an unspoilt landscape leading directly up onto the Black Mountain and the Fforest Fawr Geopark. One of the two streams running through the farm is used to generate electricity for the cottage using micro hydro scheme and timber produced on the farm is used to fuel the biomass central heating. Hot water is supplemented by Solar thermal system installed on the south facing roof.

Fishing may be arranged locally as can bike hire, with several routes from the farm. Nature abounds; deer may be spotted wandering over the nearby forestry and there are hosts of birds including red kites and buzzards soaring above the yard. Organic pork, beef, lamb and eggs arer easily available during your stay along with various locally made vegetarian options, home made ready meals and vegetables in season.
