Mawr Cottage

These converted barns are on a very remote farmstead in the Cambrian Mountains near Newbridge on Wye and Builth Wells. This is a wonderful place to walk in real wilderness, to mountain bike or to ride - you are almost guaranteed to hardly meet a soul - with miles and miles of wild Mid Wales countryside. The fabulous Elan Valley with its many picturesque large reservoirs and scenic drives is only a few miles away. The closest pub is The Red Lion 3 miles

Cottage accommodation

Sleeps 3, 2 bedrooms. The kitchen is well fitted with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, and a fridge. Freezer and washing machine in a nearby laundry room. A comfortable sitting room with good quality sofa bed and chairs, dining area with table and chairs. SKY TV (free channels only), DVD and video. 

There are two bedrooms

Bedroom 1: with a double bed

Bedroom 2: with a single bed.

A shower room with handbasin, shower and toilet.

Useful information

  • Bedlinen and towels are provided.
  • Electricity and oil central heating,
  • There is a garage for each cottage, if visitors wish to park cars but there is also ample parking on the yard.
  • Up tp two well behaved dogs are  welcome per cottage but please be aware there are thousands of sheep roaming over the hillside - but no dogs allowed from March until the beginning of June due to the many sheep lambing in the area.
  • No mobile reception at this isolated farmstead, as the cottages are tucked down in the valley between the hills.
  • There is a telephone in the farmhouse for emergencies.
  • Cot and highchair.
  • There are patios for both cottages with lovely views across the valley.
  • There is a separate very large shower/wet room and toilet beside the laundry room - ideal if you have been riding horses or mountain bikes all day.
  • Supermarkets that deliver here - Asda.

     Mobile Reception

    Mawr Cottage is an ultimate get a away from it all - as this holiday cottage is tucked away in a remote valley there is NO mobile reception but the farmhouse telephone can be used in emergencies.

    Out and about

    Get Active - Mawr cottage offers secure garage storage for mountain bikes and canoes and the shared utility room facility - with a separate wet room - is ideal after muddy adventures.

    The Royal Welsh Showground which hosts many events throughout the year from Agricultural shows to Antiques fairs is only a 20 minute drive away, whilst the Wyeside Cinema and Theatre centre offers an interesting choice of evening entertainment.

    Can also be booked with Bach Cottage to sleep a family of 5.
