    Eco Friendly

This property is as Eco - Friendly a property as is possible with a Wind Turbine and Solar Thermal and Photovoltaic Panels. It is set on a ridge overlooking the Wye Valley and with wonderful views across to the Black Mountains and a mosaic of pastures, hedgerows and woodlands.  There are walks straight from the Granary into the adjacent woodland which belongs to the Duchy of Cornwall Estate.  This is a mixed woodland with deer and other wildlife and the bridlepath that runs along side the house continues through the woodland and the nearby farmland which is still traditionally farmed keeping its natural wildflower meadows.

    Location

Footpaths straight from the cottage lead down to Peterchurch village, approximately one and a half mile away. The Barn is reached up a half mile track through corn fields making this a lovely and secluded location for a quiet holiday.
Peterchurch has excellent village amenities, with a shop selling local food and cider as well as a general store. There is a variety of local farmer's markets in nearby villages, and a very good local restaurant, Food For Thought in Peterchurch.

As well as its proximity to Hay-On-Wye, the Golden Valley has a wealth of interesting places and sights to see such as Arthur's Stone - a Neolithic burial chamber, the 12th century Cistercian Dore Abbey, and St Margarets with its 16th century rood screen. Further afield is Llanthony Priory, one of the earliest Augustian foundations, known today for its beautiful and remote location in the Vale of Ewyas in the Black Mountains.

There is a great choice of places to eat out, the wonderfully atmospheric The Bulls Head at Craswall, White Hayward Farm at Craswall where local food is very much on the menu, and the award winning Lough Pool Inn at Sellack.  The nearby Hay on Wye also offers a range of cafes including The Granary, Shepherds Ice Cream Parlour, and The Globe with its mix of food, drink, films and events.

Herefordshire has a wide range of festivals such as the Ledbury Poetry Festival, the Borderlines Film Festival and the Three Choirs Festival. In September there is also the very successful and well regarded Herefordshire Arts Week when artists throughout the county open their studios to the public. Galleries such as the Galanthus Gallery at Wormbridge, the Monnow Arts Centre at Walterstone, and the Wobage Makers Gallery at Upton Bishop regularly show local and national artists and crafts people.

Hay 9.5 miles. Hereford 11 miles.
