Holme View Cottage

Holme View Cottage dates back to the 1600's and is situated next to the owner's house on an 18 acre small holding with a stream and bluebell woods. The owners breed Texel and Lleyn sheep and also have "award winning" specialist cats (kept in secure houses).  There are stupendous views from the cottage right across the valley, over The Bristol Channel to Somerset and Holme Island.

Cottage Accommodation

Sleeps 4, 2 bedrooms.  The attractively fitted and well equipped new kitchen has a lovely slate floor with  a large Range Cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. From the kitchen there are views up the owner's garden and a back door with a small porch area - ideal for storage, hanging coats and hats and storing boots or for a dog to sleep.

A downstairs shower room with shower, handbasin and toilet.

The sitting room retains the original great oak beams, stone walls and a very efficient woodburning stove set in a stone inglenook fireplace.  Comfortable new sofas and chairs, dining table and chairs.  Freeview TV and DVD.

Bedroom 1:  is a delightful downstairs double bedroom with high vaulted wooden panelled ceiling, giving the feeling of plenty of light and space.

There are steep stone traditional circular stairs winding behind the fireplace with a wrought iron banister - these should be taken into account for visitors who maybe slightly elderly or infirm and young children must be supervised. 

Bedroom 2: a superb Master bedroom with a king sized bed, and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, handbasin and toilet.

    There is a nearby pony trekking centre, Close to several Golf Courses including The Celtic Manor and Clay Pigeon shooting (Sunday AM ) up the road at The Mountain Air pub.
     
    The cottage is within 5 minutes drive up a narrow country lane from the centre of Cwmbran.for shopping and groceries.  When at the cottage  you get the feeling you are in the centre of the countryside with lovely woodland walks in  nearby Blaen Bran Community Woods where maintenance and log moving is often done with heavy horses  and mountain walks straight from the cottage onto the open hillside;  Wainwrights Walk and the Systrans Cycle route pass close by.  Thus there is miles of walking right over to The Black Mountains and The Brecon Beacons.  The Mountain Air pub is just a few minutes walk up the lane.TheWorld Heritage site and the Brecon Canal Basin and Park are nearby at Pontypool.

    Abergavenny 12 miles, Usk 8 miles, Cardiff 8 miles and Newport 4 miles and the M4 approximately 10 minutes drive.
