Useful information
The riverbank barn conversion (dated 1770) is located at the Happy Horse Retirement Home, a beautiful 100 acre farm in the secluded Crai valley. The stables are situated close to the cottages, ideal for horse lovers with stabling available. The Crai river (SSSI) runs alongside the large outdoor sitting area and the back of the cottages. There are fabulous views over the green rolling hills and river from the kitchen and bedroom windows.
The area has abundant wildlife including otters, buzzards and red kites nesting nearby. There are numerous walks from the farm, within a few minutes walk is Crai reservoir with Brown Trout fishing, the farm falls into the Geo Park area with its glacial lakes, the large Cnewr Estate, large areas of forestry and high commons, waterfalls and the Sarn Helen Roman Road popular with mountain bikers. Brecon is 15 miles, whilst the sandy beaches of the Gower Peninsula are a 45 minute drive. The owners have an extensive knowledge of the local area for those on foot, bicycle or horseback, they also speak Dutch, French and German.
The River Crai runs at the back of the barns, for this reason the properties are not suitable for young children unless strictly supervised.
