Esgair Wen - A truly pet-friendly holiday cottage
A converted stone barn on a 17th century farm in the Towy Valley, Esgair Wen is situated on a quiet country lane. The self catering cottage itself has some lovely character features and although it has one double bedroom, it could sleep a party of 4 if required. The cottage boasts a balcony with superb views and its position on the farm means that not only is your dog welcome, but your horse is offered excellent accommodation as well! A short walk from Esgair Wen brings you to the village of Cwmdu with its 17th century inn, or a 5 mile trip sees you reach Llandeilo, a bustling market town. Jump in the car for an hour and you can choose between the award winning beaches on the Gower or Pembrokeshire coasts.
Beaches, valleys and mountains from one location
Esgair Wen is well placed to offer an excellent all-round experience of Wales. There is a National Trust leased, locally run 17th century Inn a short walk away with its small community post office and shop. Or, 5 miles away is the charming market town of Llandeilo from which you can catch the 'Heart of Wales' railway line, one of Britain's most scenic railways with numerous stops for walkers. The area boasts many castles and even a bronze aged hill fort to explore. An hour's drive west brings you to the Pembrokeshire coast; the same journey south will find you on the Gower. Both coastlines offer award-winning beaches and wonderfully scenic walks.
A converted stone barn
Return home from your day at the beach and enjoy a long soak in the bath before taking your glass of wine through the French windows in the living room and onto the balcony. Sit back and enjoy the magnificent views out across the valley. Inside, your converted stone barn boasts the unusual combination of beams throughout with high ceilings making the cottage feel airy and spacious. The galleried bedroom is a unique attribute and its stone wall is a nice feature.
Grazing with stabling available
Esgair Wen will provide you and your pet a friendly welcome whether that pet is a well behaved dog or your horse or pony. The farm offers 12 acres of grazing as well as stabling. It is surrounded by small country lanes and picturesque bridleways and there is some excellent hacking to be had in the Towy Valley.
Self catering accommodation
Enter Esgair Wen and you will find yourself in a large open-plan kitchen and living room. The kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker and hob, microwave and fitted units. If you need to do laundry during your stay, use of the owner's washing machine and tumble dryer is available. A useful utility room houses a fridge and leads to a spacious bathroom which has a bath with shower over, handbasin and toilet.
The living room has a dining table and chairs, TV and a sofa bed and armchairs. French windows open onto a balcony with glorious views across the valley. From the living room open stairs lead up to a curtained off galleried bedroom with a stone feature wall and double bed.
