As it is built into the side of the hill it is more convenient to have the bedrooms on the lower floor and the living area on the ground floor. The slate and lime stone used to be transported down the mountain on the historic Brynoyre Tram Road to the canal and the Counting House was where all the transactions were carried out. Just across the lane are the lime kilns where the lime was processed. It was then transported away along the canal. The cottage is perched on the bank with superb views of the boats on the canal and across the Usk Valley to the river and the Black Mountains beyond. The cottage is on the outskirts of the popular village of Talybont-on-Usk.
