Visitors to Berllan Barn are free to explore the 10 acres of beautifully landscape gardens that surround the barn and the owner's house next door. The views of Table mountain, the little town of Crickhowell, and the Sugar Loaf mountain beyond are fantastic and the patio area to the front of the barn is the perfect place for an alfresco dinner. The barn itself is well appointed with an ensuite to the master bedroom and a downstairs bathroom to serve the second twin room.

A great base for outdoor enthusiasts

This area of the Brecon Beacons is ideal for those interested to organising horse riding, caving, canoeing, sailing, cycling or walking. The owner has expert knowledge of the walks available in the surrounding areas and as such is a proud member of the National Park's Ambassador programme. Whilst a car is useful in a rural area, taxis are available locally.

    Just moments from the canal

Berllan Barn is in a delightful setting, just a few minute's walk from the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal. Stroll along the banks and watch the comings and goings on the water, or feed the ducks and swans. Make sure that you take a boat ride to see the canal from a completely different perspective - the tow-paths provide miles of easy cycling too.

Crickhowell - just a walk through the meadow away

A comfortable half  hour stroll takes you through picturesque fields to the famous Crickhowell Bridge over the River Usk. The bridge is well known for its mysterious arches, 12 when viewed from one side and 13 when facing upstream. Follow the narrow street, lined with pretty Georgian terraces up to the market town's centre. You will be spoilt for choice in Crickhowell whether choosing somewhere to eat, buying local produce or browsing for clothes or gifts.

    Llangattock Escarpment

The escarpment which rises up behind Berllan Barn is a result of 18th and 19th century quarrying but today nature has largely reclaimed the landscape as its own. The quarrying process effectively sectioned the cliff face and in doing so uncovered an entrance to one of the longest cave systems in the U.K. with over 12 miles of passages. Not surprisingly Llangattock Escarpment is a popular destination for cavers from across Europe and the Western section of the escarpment has now be designated as the Craig Y Cilau National Nature Reserve.

Crickhowell 1.5 mile, Abergavenny 7 miles, Brecon 10 miles.
