The Bage

The sunny south facing Wing of the 17th century Bage Court Farm, is a Grade II listed warm and homely farmhouse, with many original oak beams and a delightful sunny garden -  ideal for children and a perfect location for anyone wishing to visit Hay-on-Wye and explore the Black Mountains and the beautiful Golden Valley. The farm is set in lovely Herefordshire border country farmland close to The River Wye with arable land, sheep and cattle.

Cottage accommodation

Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms. There is a large and spacious entrance hall with a beautiful local antique grandfather clock, this leads to a newly fitted spacious kitchen with ample work and storage space, electric halogen hob and oven, microwave, washing machine, fridge and separate freezer, and a kitchen table and chairs. There is also a separate downstairs toilet.

A separate dining room has a long table and six comfortable upright leather dining chairs, with views out onto the orchard from the casement windows.  The sitting room is spacious with a three seater sofa and three armchairs, large flat screen TV with DVD player and Sky (basic package). There is also a featured 1930's fireplace.

Up the beautiful original oak staircase to three bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Bedroom 1: has twin beds and a washbasin and has views over the garden 
Bedroom 2:  has a double bed, and original oak floors, pretty patchwork quilt and original oak beams and old range fireplace.
Bedroom 3:  is very spacious and has a double bed and again with views over the garden.
The bathroom has a bath, toilet and handbasin.

    The Bage Sunnyside is a perfect place to stay for a family who would like a spacious, friendly and comfortable house with a large and safe garden for children to play in. The friendly farmers wife loves to ensure that visitors feel welcome and offers a generous "home made" Welcome Pack when visitors arrive; she would also be very happy at some stage to show people around the rest of this beautiful 17th century farmhouse - including the original Half Tester Four Poster Bed that has been handed down from her great grandmother.

    Arthurian romance and the Grail Quest

    This whole area is filled with Arthurian romance and the Grail Quest, reputed to be the site of LLacheu, son of King Arthur with Arthur's Stone burial mound well worth a visit.

    From The Bage it is easy to drive into Hereford to visit among other things The Mappi Mundi at Hereford Cathedral, The Cider Museum or the very busy cattle market or to Leominster "The Town of the Marches" with the many Black and White Houses, nearby Hay on Wye and The Brecon Beacons and The Black Mountains. Just up the road is The Golden Valley, a glorious treasure, nine miles long with The River Dore running through, Peterchurch and Dorstone are at the head of the Valley with some excellent places to eat and drink, including The Pandy Inn and Food for Thought.

    Plenty to see and do

    Mountain Bikes are available locally and can be delivered to the door. An excellent location for walking Offa's Dyke Path, Fishing, trout, salmon and barbel is available on The River Wye - permits needed. There are several places for pony trekking or riding. There are also Golf Courses in the area. There are many places to visit among them is Kilverts Gallery, Hergest Croft Gardens, Moccas Deer Park, Longtown Castle to name just a few.
