Useful information
A cosy hillside cottage
The comfortable sofas, wood floors and large woodburning stove all give this old cottage a homely and cosy feel. Whether you choose to put on your walking boots and sample one of the many walks from the door or tuck up in front of the fire and watch the weather moving across the valley or the Alpacas in the field outside, you'll feel right at home at Alpaca Cottage.
Enjoy life down on the farm
Children and adults will love Alpaca Cottage. Set within the owners 16 acres of working hill farm numerous chickens scratch around outside whilst the charming, woolly Alpacas live in the field opposite. The owners sell Alpaca fleece and breed from them so if you time your visit well you may even see some babies or 'cria' finding their feet.
An outdoor enthusiast's dream
The small market town of Talgarth is situated just 5 minutes drive away from Alpaca Cottage. The area is rich with history and there has been a settlement on this site for at least 5000 years - the 13th century Peel Tower and 14th century Parish church are well worth a visit. On a more practical note, Talgarth has a small supermarket, local chemist and an exceptionally good local butcher - many visitors order meat to take home at the end of their stay. There are also several good pubs and restaurants in the area.
Llangorse Lake, fast becoming a centre for all sorts of outdoor pursuits including sailing, horse riding and climbing is just a few minutes away. But for the ultimate way to explore the area head down to the gliding centre, again, just a few minutes away. If you are lucky you will be joined on your flight by the local buzzards and red kite as they come to investigate circling gliders.
Talgarth 3 miles, Hay-on-Wye 9 miles, Brecon and Abergavenny are both 15 miles.
